Nieuw Jurk $€XXX Collection PART 1

Hello people!

For today's blogpost I'll show you a new Nieuw Jurk look, from the $€XXX collection. You can guess what the inspiration was for this collection.. in the short interview below you can read what the designer had to tell about this collection.

Interview Esther Meijer(part 2)

What was your inspiration for this collection ?

The theme of the collection was the pornoficering of society, the influence of pornography on our society, especially the self-image of young people with regard to sexuality. This theme was partly reflected in the materials such as latex , print consisting of neon letters as you see much in the red light district and the models: porn models.

Where can you get inspiration from everyday life ?

I am inspired by people and developments in our society. That is an inexhaustible source of wonder and I hit positive and negative passionate . That leads me to beautiful things

There was a incident that other labels gecopycat some items/prints from this collection, what can you do about that as a young designer ?

My Smiley Knee Tights copied by H&M and a tip by a Korea, replica factory. I have considered whether I could fight this but it is very difficult for financial reasons for a small creative label. Therefore, I converted this energy into setting up my new project, which addresses this question of copying in the fashion industry.

I styled this outfit to show you viewers/readers a great head to toe outfit from this $XXX collection. Worn these cool platforms sneakers from YRU to get a bit of the nineties NYC clubkid kinda style. With these neoncolors, croptop, bomber & legging. The legging is from the newest collection that I'll show you at the last Nieuw Jurk blogpost! If you would like one of your own? Check the Nieuw Jurk webshop at: http://www.nieuwjurk.com/webshop.php

For next week I'll show you a great other outfit of this Collection! Stay tuned for that!

Nieuw Jurk FAN Collection

Hi Folks!

For this blogpost I would like to introduce you to the cool Amsterdam based Label Nieuw Jurk. The next 4 blogpost I'll show you some great pieces from the collections of Nieuw Jurk. I did also a short interview with Esther Meijer owner/fashiondesigner graduated from ArtEZ,  to ask her about the background. meanings and inspirations for these collections. This is the first one of the four outfits!

Interview Esther Meijer (part 1)

FAN, the Nieuw Jurk merchandising collection

How did you get the name Nieuw Jurk?

The name Nieuw Jurk was created during my graduation. The models of my graduation show formed a gang in the fictional city of Nieuw Jurk. And it seems to me obvious that that is a derivative of my favorite city, New York.

How do you discribe Nieuw Jurk in a few words?

Humor with a serious edge.

What was your inspiration for creating this collection?

The phenomenon of idolatry, the relationship between an idol and fans. And the way celebrities, including fashion designers use their fame to sell a product. Hence a merchandising collection with abundant logo and self-portrait prints. Every customer was a walking advertising column for Nieuw Jurk.

What symbolizes the smileys / dripped smiley?

LOL.

What subcultures are important to you?
An sich there is no subculture important to me, but it is a mix of elements from these subcultures and the dynamics of such a culture.
But youthcultures like hiphop, rave, gothic and grunge are still a big inspiration.

Take a look at some Pictures below of the items we selected for The Mermale blog. This look reminded me of those Tokyo streetstyles with the platformsneaker and this surgical masks, something that became such a fashionitem and seen very often on Tokyo youthcultures.

Head to toe Nieuw Jurk, these bikergloves are vintage and these Qozmo platformsneakers are from YRU

Anime Inspired 90s look

Hi People,

For this blogpost I wanted to style a look inspired by the Japenese cartoon figures Anime. I watched Anime for a long time. There is a broad range of catagories, like fun/horror/comedy/romantic etc. I get a lot of inspiration for clothes and outfits by watching some characters. Youthfull, colorfull, happy and a little bit of edginess.

I always loved the Anime Akari Karneval. He is a doctor and researcher working at the Research Tower. He’s an incredibly talented researcher, but he’s also very proud with a tendency to say overbearing and rude things. He has pink colored hair what I always loved on Anime characters. Underneath his lab coat, he wears a blue dress shirt and a violet necktie. He is popular around the nurses while at the same time their worst enemy. All the episodes are in Japanese with english subtitels. So if you love the japanese culture, language and like the drawings like I do, it might me something for you :)

The clothes I selected are pretty dark this time to get a great contrast with the hair. Netshirts, choker necklaces, croptops and dungarees. All 90's inspired clothes and getting all back little by little :)

The long sleeved black netshirt is from Antony Morato, the casual grey denim dungaree is from the spring new collection from Zara. The Boots I bought at a vintage shore. These are the always comfortable steel cab boots from Dr.Martens

I hope you like the look! check the pictures below made by Michelle Phaf Instagram:@michellephaf

The Mermale X Hype Heroes

Hi Folks,

For this blogpost I wanted to show you a few cool unisex bracelets from the brand Hype Heroes. These bracelets are made of gemstones in many sizes and colors. We selected these bracelets from their last collection, to share with you! The fun part about these bracelets is that every kind of stone has his own meaning and uses.

We are both wearing the blue/green Chrysocolla gemstone Mermaid Bracelet, I'm wearing beside that one the Norwegian Labradorite gemstone. Michelle is wearing besides her mermaid bracelet the healing moon opalite with Silver Buddha bracelet. I found some cool meanings about these stones we're wearing, read it below.

Chrysocolla gemstone 10mm bracelet with mermaid pendant
This blue/green gemstone is a Stone of Communication. Its very essence is devoted to expression, empowerment and teaching. The serenity of its turquoise-blue color discharges negative energies, calms, and allows truth and inner wisdom to surface and be heard. A peaceful stone, it emphasizes the power our words and actions have on those around us, and encourages compassion and strengthening of character. It can stimulate the mind and relax emotions at the same time. It is the stone of forgiveness, peace, and the strengthening of emotional bonds. It encourages compassion, and helps us recover our natural spontaneity.

Norwegian Labradorite 8mm with the Hype Heroes Logo
The Norwegian Labradorite Labradorite tempers the negative side of our personality, the traits and actions that rob our energy and may produce depression or shame. It assists in reducing anti-social, reckless or impulsive behavior. And may aid in detoxifying the effects of tobacco, alcohol, and to a lesser degree, hard drugs.

Silver Buddha moon opalite 10mm bracelet
Best known as the psychic's gemstone, the opalite is better known as purple Opal. It has a few bizarre names like Opalized Fluorite, Ice Cream Opal & Tiffany Stone. It is clear or milky in coulour but also available in green, pink, blue, lavender and yellow colours also. It is the ideal stone for meditation.  Opalite improves communication on all levels, especially the spiritual.  It removes energy blockages of the chakras and meridians. The Opalite stone stabilises mood swings and helps in overcoming fatigue. They say that this stone has a healing effect and it purifies the blood and kidneys.

I don't know if it's all true but it's for us to find out what kind of effect it will have on us. Thanks to Hype Heroes for the Bracelets! To get urs check their online shop at http://www.hypeheroes.com/
